VALYSCO was created in June 2003, in Lyon, France by François Guillemin and has since grown by bringing in new talents.

President and managing Partner

Before starting Valysco in 2003  François has accumulated, over 30 years, a solid operational experience with the Vaccine and Diagnostics Industries and with biotechnologies in the human and animal health business (MERIAL, Sanofi Pasteur, Synbiotics Corp,…..).

He has worked in Europe, the United States of America, in Brazil, and in Southern Africa, filling various technical (R&D, Manufacturing, QC) , business development and management positions,

He has also occupied several board member positions (in manufacturing and service organizations).
François is “a bridge builder” who has a wide expertise in operational issues in an international environment.
He has both a Scientific ( D.V.M.,   & Immunologist) and Business. (PMD, HarvardBusinessSchool) back ground.

Anne-François BERTHON

Anne-Françoise has over 15 year experience of life sciences industries and management consulting.
She has worked 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry for Human and Animal Health (Virbac, Schering-Plough, and Mérieux Alliance) and for biotech companies filling various senior positions in Export Marketing, Corporate Marketing, Business Development, and Corporate development.

She then spent 6 years in management consulting where she developed the Life sciences R&D project management offering for Capgemini consulting Europe and has led several assignments for small, mid and large sized companies.

Her main interest is with innovation strategy building, R&D partnership design and public-private alliance management.

Anne-Françoise is DVM (National Veterinary School of Lyon), graduated from the Pasteur institute

Sylvie has over 22 years international management experience in the life sciences industry.
She started her career at TRANSIA, a venture capital risk company, in the diagnostic area. She headed for 6 years Manufacturing & Quality Control and worked in a European network.

Sylvie then joined sanofi pasteur, leading company in vaccines for human health.
Across her 16 years tenure, she occupied various management positions with increasing responsibilities in R&D and became a member of the Group R&D Global Executive Committee.  She also led several strategic initiatives across the company in the areas of organizational change management, processes efficiency, and new managerial practices. Sylvie acquired a broad knowledge of the innovation cycle from proof of concept to international launches and managed teams based in Canada, France and the United States.

Her main interest is on organization efficiency, change management and in coaching executives and teams for transformational management.

Sylvie is a Pharm. D. (LyonUniversity) and has an Executive MBA(CEDEP-INSEAD).


Jean has a 35 years operational experience in the IT/IS industry.

He started his career working 15 years for IBM (project management, software launching, and management.

He then moved to Software houses (Soleri, T-Systems) in managerial and board positions .
Since he is Consultant in management services as a partner in a Consultant Firm, he is specifically involved in top management items such as strategy, IT evolutions and management optimization.              
He has an international experience ( France, UK,..) and a broad vision in the IT/IS domains.

Jean has occupied several board member positions ; and is involved in IS professional organization (SYNTEC).

He has both a Technical ( Engineer, ISEP Paris) and Business.(IFG) back ground.

Olivier VALAT

He has over 20 years experience with Finance.

From 86 to 93 he has worked as an auditor for Arthur Andersen.
In 94 he decided to start his own business as an independent Chartered Accountant and Auditor.

In an international environment:
-He assists VCs in the financial/global evaluation in the field of biotechnology/bio-industry,
-He is much involved with M & A.

Oliver has a global (Sciences Po / Paris) and Financial (DESCC) background.


VALYSCO partners have accumulated an extensive experience in most of the company activities / businesses (R&D, Industrial, Management, Strategy, Project Management / Finances, Planning, and Organization and Human Resources),  in the field of Life Sciences.

VALYSCO also works in collaboration with a network of external partners and correspondents in Europe (Venture Valuation in Switzerland) North America and Internationally.
